The brief
A replacement crossing with a hard hydrological constraint: all in-channel work had to be complete before the summer rainfall season opened.
How it was built
- 01Programme reversed off the flood window rather than off the start date.
- 02In-channel works front-loaded, approaches and surfacing pushed into the wet months.
- 03Falsework design and load testing signed before any deck pour.
- 04Independent inspection at every hold point, recorded and issued.
Outcome
In-channel works closed out four weeks ahead of the flood window. Approaches and surfacing completed the following autumn.
