Capacity is a strategy

Growth plans are written in revenue and delivered in hours. The two are rarely reconciled before the plan is approved.

Every commercial plan makes an implicit claim about capacity: that the work can be delivered by the people the business will have, at the quality clients expect. That claim is seldom tested with the same rigour as the revenue line.

Where firms grow through relationships, work routes to whoever won it rather than whoever has room. The result is simultaneous overload and idleness — a queue problem that looks like a headcount problem.

A single intake view, honest capacity data and a named owner for routing decisions typically recovers more margin than a hiring round, and considerably faster.
